Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Private Health Fund Rebates are available for Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the main form of medicine that has been practiced in China for over 2000 years. Very fine needles are placed into precise points on meridians (channels) which release blockages and regulate body energies, thereby healing organs and restoring harmony in the body. It can be used for a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions.

What is involved in a treatment?

A treatment at the Meher Clinic involves a 10 minute massage and a talk and assessment by the practitioner, followed by the insertion of the needles and generally includes 15-20 minute period of relaxation while the needles are left in.

It is advised to allow 1 hour for an entire treatment.

What sensations can you expect?

Most people are generally surprised that acupuncture is so painless. For those who choose not to have acupuncture it is possible to have good results with herbal and homeopathic medicines only, however a combination of therapies is often most beneficial. Please note that the Meher Clinic only uses disposable needles.

Laser

For those who prefer not to have acupuncture, the laser is available and is very effective.

A laser treatment could be described as a form of needleless acupuncture and is very suitable for children and hypersensitive patients. We use laser a lot for spinal pain, joint pain and clearing sinuses. It increases the blood flow to the area being treated and stimulates the normal cell division to a higher rate which shortens the healing time.

Back and Neck Problems

Acupuncture and gentle stretches are very beneficial for back and neck problems and can give long term relief and is well suited to be given in conjunction or following a treatment with a Chiropractor or Osteopath.
